Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Make traditional Danish filled pancakes with this sturdy cast pan from Norpro. Measuring 6-1/2 inches in diameter, the pan will fit on one burner and makes up to 7 pancakes at once. The cast iron pan will need to be seasoned before use, but once the pan is properly prepared, it develops a virtually stick-free surface. Instructions for seasoning and usage are included, along with a traditional Aebleskiver recipe.

5 out of 5 stars great pan   August 27, 2008

This is a great little pan! My daughter loves eating little pancakes and muffins, all we've made so far. For her the size of the cakes is just right. The extras are great for snacks or freezing for later use. Line up the outstide cups on the burner grate and it works fine. The pan is cast iron sooooo wash it in hot water, rinse in hot water, towel dry then heat it on your stove top on low heat. While it is still warm, smear a good layer of vegetable shortening on it, set it in an aluminum foil pan, and bake it at 250 - 300 for an hour. Turn off the oven and leave the pan inside until it is cool. The pan is now seasoned, yeah! After you use the pan wash it in hot water, rinse in hot water, towel dry and heat it on a burner on low heat. When it is dry I spray it with cooking oil and let it set for another minute then turn off the burner, it is then ready to use next time. Standard operating procedure for all my cast iron.

5 out of 5 stars Aebelskiver Galore!   April 16, 2008

This pan is by far the best value in an Aebelskiver pan. Resist the temptation to buy the one advertised on TV. The cast-iron construction of the Norpro pan makes it superior for cooking and durability. I made the little pancakes the day I got the pan using the recipe that came with it. How fun! And the possibilities for stuffed pancakes, both sweet and savory! Use a skewer to turn the pancakes to cook them on the top side. If you are considering an Aebelskiver pan - make it the Norpro!

I really thought there was no way this pan could be any good. The price is just too amazing. But it is a solid heavy-duty cast iron pan. Really.

It's small, yes. All of these pans are. And you won't do better on the price.

5 out of 5 stars Great Pan   August 30, 2007

I ordered this pan not really for making aebleskiver but mainly for Kanom Krok and Takoyaki. The pan is very small and makes only seven little cups at a time. This suites me well, a family of two. The cup size is actually a perfect size for the snacks. But it might be too small for making aebleskiver. It didn't come seasoned but that was very easy to do at home. The pan fits my standard-sized gas range and the food never sticks to it.

I can't stop using this. it's so much fun to make and fun to eat! So far I've used Juffy corn muffin mix with hot dog franks, and then made some with bbq beef filling, then made some imagawayaki with sweet red bean & walnut filling. because of the fillings, i've been making 2 halves, then while the batter is only just firm on the outside, i flip one half over the other to create a full sphere. the corn muffin mix looks fluffy enough that i probably don't have to cook them this way, but it's just been my method! I'm going to try to make crispy rice balls with furikake and soy sauce next. I can't wait to make finger foods for my next gathering!
