Product Description Freshly steamed vegetables are a snap with the OXO GOOD GRIPS Pop-Up Steamer. A simple press on the handle pops it up for added length, making it easy and safe to insert and remove the Steamer. Press the handle again to lock it down for compact storage. For extra reach, a fork can be inserted into the handle. The feet on the Steamer fold for storage and open up to 1.75-in. so plenty of water can be used for steaming. Simply unscrew the handle when the entire basket is needed for steaming large items like fish fillets. Fits pots 8-in. in diameter and up. When the unit is collapsed it measures 7 inches, open it measures 11 inches in diameter. Dishwasher-safe.

Great Steamer November 11, 2008 Jack (Brooklyn) 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
As far as expandable steamers go, this one is the best, as far as I'm concerned. The 3 folding legs are rounded, so you can use this steamer in a non-stick coated pot, without worrying about scratching it. The center post handle screws off, if it gets in the way when steaming certain foods, like fish. I also like how you can put a fork through the top portion of the handle (as the instructions suggest), in order to lift it out of a pot, without burning any fingers in the process. Although it's a little bit more work cleaning it, as opposed to a silicone steamer (that doesn't expand), I usually use it for vegetables, and use a silicone steamer for fish (easier to clean). If you're really into steaming your foods, get this one and a silicone.
Great Oxo design December 2, 2008 S. Brown (Las Vegas, NV USA) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
small for storage; large for steaming large artichokes in a big pot. sturdy and stable. well worth the extra $5 over most other steamer baskets.
excellent product December 22, 2008 L. S. Miller (USA) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I bought this for my pressure cooker and it works so well when I'm steaming vegetables. The vegetables don't get all mushy from them sitting in water boiling. I'm sure it works fine without the pressure cooker. I just haven't tried it yet. The vegetables cook faster with the pressure cooker. 3 minutes instead of 15.
Great steamer August 11, 2009 Jeff Kraus (Orlando, FL USA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
The ratings already given to this product are the reason that I purchased it over any other model, and now that I have it in the kitchen, I can easily say that the rating is well earned. This is the first one I've had with a collapsible stem and collapsible legs, reducing the footprint when it's being stored. Of course, the handle is awesome. The compress/release action on it is really smooth and has the feel of a high quality build. The end, built to get at the steamer with a fork instead of burning your fingers, is one of those great "Can't Believe No One Else Thought Of It" ideas.
Two other steamers have been broken in my house in the last few weeks. I'm not even worried about it. It's obvious that this one isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
This is the one June 6, 2009 C. Greene (Cincinnati, OH) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I've had a number of steamers and this is by far the best one I've owned. The folding legs are high enough that you won't boil out the water and keeps the veggies out of the water. The other steamers I've owned didn't sit high enough to add enough water and on a couple of occasions I've run out of water. The pop up handle allows me to put a lid on the pot and when I need the handle it pops up easily. It's also nice that it has a place to put your fork to put the steamer out of the pot.
There are less expensive steamers but in this case you get what you pay for. Highly recommended
